Inness, Peter, 1946-

Scottish composer born in Falkirk in 1946.  Music graduate of the University of Edinburgh where he studied composition with Kenneth Leighton and Edward Harper and organ with Dennis Townhill.  He was awarded a scholarship to continue his studies at the Royal College of Music where he studied composition with John McCabe and conducting.
Lectured in Music at the University of Aberdeen from 1969 to 1986 and from 19841 to 1985 was visiting Professor of Music at the University of Evansville in Indiana.  In 1986 he was appointed as Head of Academic Studies at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.  He is active as a scomposer, pianist, organist and conductor.
