Murray, William Henry 1790-1852

William Henry Murray, manager at the Theatre Royal in Shakespeare Square at the east end of Princes Street, (which became the site of the General Post Office in Edinburgh for many years), was a friend of Sir Walter Scott and produced the "Waverley" dramas.

Murray's godson was William Murray Mackenzie, brother of Alexander Campbell Mackenzie both sons of Alexander Mackenzie who was from 1845 the leader of the orchestra at the Theatre Royal, Edinburgh.
