Marcus Dods was a judge, who collected antique furniture and used to knit on the train going ‘through to Edinburgh’ during the First World War.  He was also an accomplished musician who played a prominent part in the development of vocal music in the West End of Edinburgh and for his work on the Executive Committee of the Edinburgh Musical Festival.
