Programme notes by Professor Tovey began with an essay on Brahms's last works.
	The text for the songs was printed in both German and English.
	Concert was preceded at 4.00 pm on Tuesday 15 February by a public lecture given by Professor Tovey in the Music Class Room, on some of the works to be performed.
	Concert series was advertised in The Scotsman  on November 17, 1915 under the heading 'University Concerts'.

	As the Historical Concerts are part of the educational work of the University,
	it has not been thought fit to abandon the last of the present series. 
	But, instead of the first group of songs the following will be sung
	(Brahms:  Four Serious Songs, op. 121 no. 4)
At the New Reid Concert the following week, on 26 February, Professor Tovey mentioned that at the
	Historical Concert on 16 February, the Dead March from Handel's "Saul" had been performed.
	It is likely that Tovey played this tribute on the pianoforte.
