Instruments for today's concert are a copy of a fortepiano by Johann Schantz (Vienna c.1795) made for the Faculty of Music by Donald Mackinnon and Christopher Barlow (1998); a violin by Colin Irving (1985) in the style of Nicolo Amati, with low tension and gut stringing; and a bow by Brian Tunnicliffe (1986) copied from one by John Dodd dating from about 1780.
