Skalkottas, Nikos, 1904-1949
Greek composer. Moved to Athens as a child where he studied the violin, graduating from the Athens Conservatory in 1920. He then travelled to Berlin to continue his studies at the Hochschule fur Musick with Hessat and also studied composition with Juon, Kahn, Schoenberg and Weill before returning to Athens in 1933.
