Two Lullabies (for two pianos) (1936)
Date from 1936 when they were composed specifically for a BBC audition given by Britten and the South African-born pianist Adolph Hallis on 19 March 1936. They were heard in public for the first time at the 40th Aldeburgh Festival, on 22 June 1988.
