Listing of works performed at the Reid Concert or Reid Festival between 1865 and 1888 and printed in the 1888 Reid Concert Programme denotes probable first performance with Grand Orchestra in Scotland at the Reid Festival in 1875.

The Symphony in C major,  known as the Great  was published in 1840 as “Symphony No. 7 in C Major”, listed as No. 8 in the Neue Schubert-Ausgabe.
It was performed in Edinburgh at the Paterson & Sons' Subscription Concerts on January 28, 1889 and on February 1, 1897 as Symphony no. 10, in C major.
