The Symphony in C major, known as the Great was published in 1840 as “Symphony No. 7 in C Major”, listed as No. 8 in the Neue Schubert-Ausgabe.
It was performed in Edinburgh at the Paterson & Sons' Subscription Concerts on January 28, 1889 and on February 1, 1897 as Symphony no. 10, in C major.
