String Quartet no. 1
This quartet was completed on 17 November 1988 and is dedicated in gratitude to Richard Stilgoe who commissioned it for the Edinburgh Quartet. Stilgoe has long had an interest in Ward's music and this commission was to write, in the words of Ward, 'anything I like'.
