Songs: "Clara"

'Clara' by Sally Beamish (composer) and Janice Galloway (writer) was commissioned by mezzo soprano Sandra Porter and pianist Graeme McNaught. 
Impressions from the life of Clara Wieck-Schumann after the eight songs of Robert Schumann's op. 42, 'Frauen-Liebe und Leben'.
Texts by Janice Galloway, a Scottish writer based in Glasgow, as a commentary on the 8 Chamisso poems of the song cycle.

First performed by the duo on National Poetry Day in October 1995.
