Prelude & Fugue in G minor (J.S. Bach, arr. Edward Harper)
This transcription for string quartet was written to preface a performance of Shostakovich's Piano Quintet given in 1999 by the Edinburgh Quartet. Chosen by the composer as it is in the same key as the Shostakovich. Apart from one or two minor but necessary alterations, the notes are as Bach left them. (Bk II, 'The 48')
