A Military Sonata for flute and piano
Commissioned by Jean Murray and John Moore with funds provided by the Scottish Arts Council.
They gave the first performance in the Reid Concert Hall on Tuesday 10 February 1987.
Raymond Monelle wrote:
When General Reid was campaigning in Canada he often entertained his troops around the camp-fire by improvising on the flute, with tunes that recalled their distant Scottish Homeland. This little sonata, based on Reid's 'Solos for a German Flute', pictures the worthy General in action and repose.
