Canso - Improvisation on a Troubadour song (for viola and piano) (1984)

Commissioned in 1984 by Michael Beeston, viola player with the Edinburgh Quartet, with a subsidy from the Scottish Arts Council.  It is based on the canso in vers form 'Can vei la lauzeta mover' by Bernard de Ventadorn (12th century).

First performance given by Michael Beeston and David Lloyd at the Reid Concert on 4 December 1984.
