Business established by Andrew Wood, a partner in the Edinburgh piano manufacturing and music publishing firm of Muir, Wood & Co. and later Wood, Small and Co.
In 1799 his company won a royal warrant as "Musical Instrument Makers of His Majesty".

His sons George Wood (1812-1893) with his brothers Robert (1797-1871 and John Muir Wood, 1805-1892, musician, piano manufacturer, music publisher and photographer (Wikipedia), operated the piano and music publishing firm of Wood & Co.in Edinburgh  and later additionally in Glasgow.

Wood & Co. acted as ticket sellers for many of the Reid concerts and as concert managers for some concerts between 1845-1865.
