Weston, Cecilia

Cecilia Weston was a student in the Faculty of Music at the University of Edinburgh and continued her studies at the University of Cambridge and violin at the Royal Academy of Music in London.  Having performed as a professional violinist and teacher she began conducting and in 1994 won the Post Office 'Conductor of the Year' scholarship which enabled her to return to Scotland to study for a Masters in Conducting at the RSAMD in Glasgow where she won several prizes.  In 1996 Cecilia returned from a period of study at the St Peterburg Conservatoire with Liya Alexandrovitch Musin and Alexander Politschuk and gave many concerts with various orchestras in Scotland including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.  She went on to pursue a career as an internationally renowned conductor.
