Tagliavini, Luigi Ferdinando, 1929-2017

Italian organist, harpsichordist, musicologist and composer.  Professor Tagliavini is a native of Bologna where he began his studies in organ, piano and harpsichord.  He moved on to Paris where he became a pupil of Marcel Dupré before returning to Italy to complete a doctorate at Padua University on the texts of Bach's sacred cantatas.  In July 1996 he was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Music by the University of Edinburgh.
