Such, Percy 1878-1959

Percy Frederick Such was born in England in 1878, studied chamber music with Joachim and sometimes performed as an extra cellist with the Joachim Quartet.  He joined the Berlin Philharmonic at the age of 20, and became principal cellist of the London Pops Orchestra. 

He edited the Beethoven sonatas with Sir Donald Francis Tovey.  Percy Such settled in the USA in 1928, taught for a time in New York and died in the city in 1959.
