Schumann, Clara, 1819-1896

Clara (Josephine) Schumann (née Wieck); b. Sept. 13, 1819, Leipzig, d. May 20, 1896, Frankfurt;
German pianist, composer, and teacher; wife of Robert Schumann.

Between 1856 and 1888 Clara Schumann made regular visits to London to give recitals, often staying for a few weeks from the end of January.
She performed regularly at the Crystal Palace concerts and in St James's Hall, London. 
In February 1868 she travelled to Edinburgh with August Manns and the Crystal Palace Orchestra to take part in the Annual Reid Concert.
