Petrakov, Sergei, 1959-

Russian pianist and composer born in the Vyksa (Nizhny Novgorod province) some 280 kilometres east of Moscow.  He entered the Central Music School which is affiliated to the Moscow Conservatoire.  From 1977 to 1982 Sergei studied at the Moscow Conservatoire under Oleg ivanov before taking up a teaching position at the Ashgabat Conservatoire in Turkmenistan from 1982 to 1984.  in 1984 he returned to Vyksa Music School where he has been Director since 1984 from where he pursues his career as as soloist and teacher.
