Mountain, Peter, 1923-2013

English violinist and teacher born in Shipley, West Yorkshire.  He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London.  An established soloist and chamber music player he was appointed leader of the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in 1955.  He worked with many orchestras across the UK and in 1975 accepted the role of Head of Strings at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama until his retirement in 1990.  Married to the pianist Angela Dale the duo gave many recitals together.
