Attended James Gillespie's School in Edinburgh<
Studied music at the University of Edinburgh with Professor Niecks and achieved a B.Mus in 1902
In 1905 he was awarded a Bucher scholarship by the University to study composition and pianoforte in German
Taught music at a number of different schools in Edinburgh
Grew up in Edinburgh and died in the city in 1961
