McNaught, Graeme, 1959-

Graeme McNaught was born in Motherwell in 1959 and studied piano at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik, Munich with Alfons Kontarsky, the Hochschule Mozarteum, Saltzburg with Hans Leygraf and in London with Maria Curcio..  A prizewinner at the RSAMD and the Terni International Piano Competition, he was the first winner of the Scottish Piano Competition in 1986, following which he was appointed to the Piano Department of the RSAMD.

The Scottish Piano Competition was established in tribute to Frederick Lamond, the legendary Scottish pianist and pupil of Liszt who gained international renown at the turn of the 19th/20th centuries.
