Jeffcoat, Richard

Composer and pianist Richard Jeffcoat was born in Birmingham and brought up in Edinburgh.  He studied Classics and Music at Christ Church, Oxford and continued his studies in London, before working for two years for an AIDS charity in Oxfordshire.  Richard returned to Edinburgh in 1992 and joined the staff at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music for seven years as, variously, Chorus Master, Orchestral Administrator and Staff Accompanist.  He was instrumental in the development of the Early Music course and their contemporary music ensemble 'Academy Now!'.
