Friend, Clea, 1972-
Clea Friend, MMus, MSc, PGCE is a violoncellist who was born in London, studied music at the University of Edinburgh (graduating in 1996) and continued her studies with Steven Doane at the Eastman School of Music in the USA. Clea followed this some years later with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. She has performed with many orchestras and ensembles in the UK, including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, RSNO, Scottish Opera and Ballet and both the Paragon and Hebrides Ensembles. Theatre work includes the National Music Theatre and Ulysses Theatre Company in Croatia. She is also co-founder and Principal Cellist of the Mostar Sinfonietta. Clea is based in Scotland and is an active chamber musician, performer, community worker, educator and project manager, working with innovative projects in the UK and abroad.
Played with the New Violin Octet at the Reid Concert Hall, University of Edinburgh on 21 February 1995.
