Leonard Matthew Freedman, b. London; d. Edinburgh  (birth and death registered as 'Freedman' not 'Friedman' the name he was known as professionally)

Virtuoso violinist and violin teacher based in Edinburgh from the 1960s
Moved to Scotland in 1966 to become leader of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
Taught at St Mary's Music School, Edinburgh and the Royal Scottish Acadmy of Music and Drama, Glasgow
Close association with "Live Music Now" in Scotland.

Founder and leader of the Scottish Baroque Ensemble from 1969.
Director of the St Andrew Camerata.
