Fisher, Roger 1936-2021
Roger Fisher was born in Woodford, Essex. From 1955 he studied at the Royal College of Music, London with Harold Darke and Herbert Howells, and was awarded an Organ Scholarship at Christ Church, Oxford. In 1967 he was appointed Organist and Master of the Choristers of Chester Cathedral, a post he held for 29 years and left in 1996 to concentrate on his career as a recitalist, teacher and adviser on organ construction. From 1997 to 2004 he was Features Editor of Organists' Review.
