Field, Elizabeth Ann, 1937-

Pianist and harpsichordist Elizabeth Ann Field studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow where she won the Challen Prize.  On graduating she was invited to become assistant to Cedric Thorpe Davie, Master of Music at the University of St Andrews.  In 1970 after a spell of school teaching she returned to the St Andrews Music Department as a lecturer and for the next 20 years played a leading role in the musical life of the University, taking early retirement in 1995.  She is married to violinist Christopher Field.
