Fenyő, Gusztáv

Gusztáv Fenyő, a descendant of Joseph Joachim, was born in South Africa, became an Australian citizen in 1970.  He studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and, at the age of 18, won the ABC Concerto Competition playing Liszt's First Piano Concerto.  On graudation from Sydney he won a scholarship for a period of study in London with Maria Curcio, Hungarian pianist Gusztáv Fenyő, continued his studies with Pál Kadosa and Vilmos Tátrai at the Liszt Academy in Budapest.  In 1980 he settled in Glasgow where he lectured in piano at the Royal Scottish aademy of Music and pursued a career as a concert pianist.
