Conway, William

William Conway is a cellist and conductor based in Edinburgh.  William was born and brought up in Glasgow and studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow and the Royal College of Music in London.  He is principal cellist and founder member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and is an artistic director of the Scottish-based chamber group, Hebrides Ensemble.  As conductor he was a prizewinner in the final of the 1994 Leeds Conductors' Competition and has been principal conductor of Camerata Scotland since 1992.
