Michael Edward Chibbett, d. Edinburgh 1994

Studied organ and harpsichord at The Royal College of Music and at the University of London with Thurston Dart.
After a postgraduate degree in Renaissance and Baroque music at the University of Nottingham he studied for a year on a Netherlands Government scholarship with Gustav Leonhardt in Amsterdam.

In 1977 he was visiting Professor in Residence at Washington University in St Louis.  
In 1983 he became organist and choirmaster at Greyfriars Kirk, Edinburgh and was consultant for the new Peter Collins organ installed there in 1990.

He became administrator of the Scottish Ensemble in 1984 and then Assistant to Giancarlo Menotti for the Spoleto, Melbourne and Charleston Festivals
