Casals, Pablo, 1876-1973

Pau Casals, Catalan violoncellist and conductor, used the professional name Pablo Casals.

In an interview with Ivor Newton in about 1949, Senor Casals pointed to a portrait of the late Sir Donald Tovey.  "There was one of the greatest musicians of our times."   (Column "London by Day,"  unknown newspaper and unknown date)
