Breatnach, Mary

Mary Breatnach graduated from University College, Cork with a degree in Modern Languages before pursuing a career as a viola player. She studied viola at the Royal Academy of Music in London and in Detmold and joined the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.  In 1989 she was awarded a PhD in Music by the University of Edinburgh, where she was a member of staff in the French Department until her retirement in 2010.
