Baily, John

John Baily started learning the rubâb with the noted Kabuli master musician Ustad Mohammad Omar in 1973.  Although best known for his ethnomusicological writings on the music of Afghanistan, his devotion to the rubâb is much appreciated amongst members of the Afghan community in Europe and the USA.  In 1997 he was Reader in Ethnomusicology at Goldsmiths College, London.
