Ashton, Nicholas
Nicholas Ashton was educated at Chetham's School, Manchester, the Royal Northern College of Music, Edinburgh University and on a postgraduate scholarship at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique, Geneva and the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Frankfurt-am-Main. Nicholas combines his performance activities with a full-time academic career as Senior Lecturer in Music at Napier University, Edinburgh. Since 2010 he has been an External Assessor for keyboard at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and from 2010 to 2013 he was external examiner for piano at St Mary's Music School, Edinburgh. He is also working with Dr Alistair Scott, Director of the Screen Academy Scotland and Dr Paul Ferguson of the Sound Production Department at Napier University on initial filming and audio recordings at the Queen's Hall, Edinburgh for a 2018 documentary film project concerning Chopin's stay in England and Scotland in 1848.
