The Buxtehude-Bach-Krebs pieces represent an important line in the German organ tradition.  Dietrich Buxtehude lived and worked in Lübeck, where Bach travelled to from Armstadt just to hear him play.  Johann Ludwig Krebs was a pupil of Bach's whilst he was in Leipzig between 1726 and 1735.
