This concert is presented in tribute to the memory of Sir Donald Francis Tovey, Reid Professor of Music 1914-1940, Founder and Conductor of the Reid Symphony Orchestra 1916-1940.

(pp.2—3), plus a discussion on the impact of 'three important developments' in 1890—91that advanced music in Scotland: the establishment of the Athenaeum School of Music; the inauguration of the Scottish Orchestra; and the institution of the Faculty of Music at the University of Edinburgh (p.1).
