Frauen-Liebe und Leben op. 42 ... Schumann

1. Seit ich ihn gesehen
     Since I have seen him I think myself blind for all I can think of or behold in his perfect image.

2. Er, der Herrlichste von allen
     He is the noblest and best of all me.  I pray for his happiness and envy the woman he chooses to love.

3. Ich kann's nicht fassen
     He has told me he loves me.  I can hardly believe it.  I must be dreaming.

4. Du Ring an meinem Finger 
     This golden ring on my finger is a symbol of my eternal love for him.

5. Helft mir, ihr Schwestern
      Dear sisters help me to prepare for my wedding day.  I shall leave you all with sadness but go to my beloved with great joy.

6. Süsser Freund, du blickest
     Let me whisper the reason to you my love for my tears of happiness.  Soon there will be a cradle by my bed and within it a child in your image.

7. An meinem Herzen
     I hold my child to my heart and know a rapture and joy beyond expression.

8. Nun hast du mir der ersten Schmerz getan
     Now you have hurt me for the first time.  Your death has left me with only my thoughts of you and my lost happiness.
