Orchestra leader was Mr A.C. Mackenzie.  Of the 48 instrumentalists, 34 were elite musicians from Edinburgh and the Amateur Orchestral Society.  Three strings and winds from Glasgow, a double bass player from Dundee, the lead second violin from Birmingham and six musicians from the Halle Orchestra in Manchester.
