Paterson, Lliam, 1991-

Lliam was born in Ellon, Aberdeenshire and educated at Aberdeen City Music School and St Mary's Music School, Edinburgh.  He read Music at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and studied piano accompaniment with Eugene Asti at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.  While studying he undertook private lessons in composition with Errollyn Wallen and Judith Weir. Lliam was composer-in-residence with Scottish Opera from 2014 to 2017 and in 2017 was named 'Best Musical Artist' at the Sunday Herald Scottish Culture Awards for this work.  In 2019 he was a PhD candidate in Creative Music Practice (Opera) at the University of Edinburgh, supported by a grant from the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities.
