MacRae, Stuart, 1976-
Scottish composer Stuart MacRae was born in Inverness in 1976. He read music at Durham and continued his studies in composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, studying with Simon Bainbridge and Robert Saxton. He was a finalist in the 1996 Lloyd's Bank Young Composer's Workshop and his orchestral piece 'Boreraig' was first performed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra under Martyn Brabbins. In 1999 he was appointed Composer-in-Association with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
