Grobe, Charles, 1817-1879
Charles Grobe was born in German and travelled to America in 1839. For much of his career he was affiliated with various female academies including Weslyan Female Academy in Wilmington, Delaware and in 1859 published a 'New Method for Pianoforte' for use in female academies. He was prolific composer of piano pieces to keep up with the demand for new piano music as a result of the mass production of pianos at the time in the Unites States.
