Globokar, Vinko, 1934-

Vinko Globokar was born in France in 1934 and when he was 13 he moved to Ljublijiana, gaining his diploma at the conservatory there in 1954.  He went on to study trombone, conducting and composition in Paris and Berlin and his teachers included Rene Leibowitz and Luciano Berio.  His virtuoso trombone technique led Pierre Boulez to engage him as head of the instrumental research division of IRCAM from its inception in 1977.
