Foster, Stephen Collins, 1826-1864

Stephen Collins Foster was born on 4 July 1826, the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration fo Independence and the same day that Thomas Jefferon and John Adams died.  He is best remembered for his contribution to American musical life, his many popular songs and limited output of piano music.  Collins was the first musician to be named to the Hall of Fame for Great Americans.
