Bevan Baker, John, 1926-1994
John Stewart Bevan Baker was born in England but spent most of his life based in Aberdeen and Fortrose in northern Scotland. He studied organ and composition at the Royal College of Music, London where his tutors included Ralph Vaughan Williams and Gordon Jacob. In 1949 he was appointed assistant to the organist at Westminster Abbey and in 1958 he moved to Aberdeen.
