Beamish, Sally, 1956-

Sally Beamish was born in London in 1956 and studied viola and composition at the Royal Northern College of Music with Patrick Ireland.  For a decade her career centred on playing the viola until, in 1989, she received an Arts Council Composers Bursary and moved to Scotland with her husband, cellist Robert irvine.  Since that time Sally has received a steady stream of commissions.  She lives with her family in Stirlingshire.
