Bax, Arnold, 1883-1953

Sir Arnold Edward Trevor Bax  b. London 1883; d. Cork 1953

British composer and poet.  Trained as pianist and composer at the Royal Academy of Music
In 1942 he was appointed Master of the King's Music and held this honour until 1953.   (the 'k' of 'Musick' was finally dropped during Elgar's service 1924-35).
Sir Arthur composed the Coronation March for the Queen in 1953.
