Set of three string quartets op. 59, written in 1806, published in 1808 and dedicated to Count Andreas Kyrillowitsch Rasoumousky, who was at the time Russian Ambassador in Vienna, in compliment to whom Russian tunes appear in the finale of no. 1 and the scherzo of no. 2.
