The programme will include Dvorak's Violoncello Concerto and Arias by Mozart and Verdi
(Owing to depletion of the ranks of the Reid Choir on account of the War, it has proved impossible to include in the programme of the Seventh Concert the choral items in which the Reid Choir was to have taken part.

For this special concert the Reid Symphony Orchestra was assisted by members of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra who were former members of the Reid Orchestra. Two items from the first half of the concert, the overture and the piano concerto were broadcast live on the BBC Home Service at 2.35 pm.  The radio broadcast was introduced at 2.30 pm by Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, Sir Thomas H. Holland, K.C.S.I., K.C.I.E., F.R.S.  It being wartime the Radio Times listing stated tht the broadcast was from 'a concert hall in Scotland'.
The concert marked the centenary of the first Reid Concert in 1841 and was given in memory of Professor Donald Francis Tovey who had died the prevous year.
