Scott, Francis George, 1880-1958

Scottish composer, b. Hawick and studied in Edinburgh and Durham. Wrote more than 300 songs and while many are settings of Burns, the poetic works of Hugh MacDairmid (earlier Scott's student in English at Langholm Academy in the Scottish Borders) are at the heart of his work.

His daughter married Scottish composer Erik Chisholm,
